Wednesday, October 3 at 6:30pm in the Community Room at WCPL

John Zinn, local historian and author, will present a slide lecture on the entry of the U.S. in World War I.  The year 1917 marked the beginning of large scale mandatory military service in the county.  Zinn will explore the experience of New Jersey men with the draft, military training and their combat experience in the Meuse, Argonne offensive in the fall of 1918. Registration required with West Caldwell Public Library.

Thursday, November 8, at 6:30 pm in the Community Room at WCPL

A program that is not co-sponsored but may be of interest to those visiting our site, also at the WCPL and requiring registration. James Gardner, local historian, will present a slide lecture about the Monomonock Inn, a showcase hotel in Caldwell that hosted wealthy vacationers every year from April through October, The Inn, which opened in 1902 and was occupied through 1940, was renowned for its beautiful greens, golf course, tennis courts and ornately furnished rooms.
